The Iowa Women's Basketball team played #8 Ohio State down to the wire, but fell by 4 in Columbus Thursday night. The Iowa Men's team will head up this weekend to battle the #18 Buckeye Men, and they'll take Anthony Tucker on the trip, though it's unclear whether he'll play. Meanwhile, a video about Coach Lickliter's son John has the UI unhappy. More football news from national signing day, plus Wrestling, Men's Golf, Swimming and Diving, and Dallas Clark in the Super Bowl. Go Hawks!!

Another group of kids, (which given that John Derby is already hatching Hawkeye offspring, I’m allowed to use the term “kids”) signed up to become Hawkeyes Wednesday. The list can be found below. I, of course, start with the usual caveats when analyzing this class. None of the kids, with the likely exception of the Derby kid, have sat in one of the Pentecrest lecture halls yet. They still haven’t figured out if they can do the work pretty much independently at a big U that is, for most, far away from home and the convinces (or kick in the butt) of their momma.

Plenty of analysis of Iowa's football recruiting class, and it appears to stack up pretty well against the rest of the Big Ten. Men's Basketball loses a close game at home to Illinois, but Hawk fans should be more embarrassed at how many Illinois students filled the Carver-Hawkeye seats. Women's Hoops goes on the road to face top-ten Ohio State, one new Hawkeye football player also impresses on the wrestling mat, plus former Hawks in Sunday's Super Bowl, Women's Tennis, and Soccer headlines. On Iowa!!

Men's Hoops host Illinois this evening at Carver, Wrestling heads to Utah, plus Men's Tennis, Men's Gymnastics, Baseball, Men's and Women's Swimming, and the possibility of sports gambling in Iowa. Go Hawks!!

Plenty of action of all kinds over the weekend! Men's Basketball dropped a game on the road at Michigan, and the 14-point final margin doesn't indicate how badly Iowa was beaten. They prepare to host Illinois on Wednesday night. Wrestling pounded Penn State and then blanked Michigan State in dual meets, including an upset of the #1 wrestler at 133 pounds. A short Kinnick documentary, and plenty of football recruiting news, as signing day is this Wednesday. Women's Hoops blows out Purdue at Carver-Hawkeye, plus Men's Golf, Men's Tennis, Men's and Women's Track and Field, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, and Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving. Go Hawks!!

With about 5 days before official football signing day, recruiting takes center stage, with a couple features on future Hawkeye Football players, as well as Big Ten expansion talk, and a possible Iowa-NW game at Wrigley Field in 2010. Men's Basketball heads on the road to play Michigan tomorrow, and even with a slight ankle injury, Matt Gatens will play, but Anthony Tucker will not. Don't get me wrong. I like screwdrivers. Especially with citrus-infused vodka
from whatever your favorite Scandanavian country happens to be. But I much prefer
that the oranges be associated with the Iowa Football Bowl games, and the vodka
NOT be something Men's basketball player Anthony Tucker keeps getting arrested for.

Football players were honored at the OSU basketball game, and with signing day less than a week away, recruiting news is getting busier. Penn State visits Iowa City for Wrestling, Women's Hoops look ahead to Purdue, plus Men's and Women's Gymnastics, and Women's Volleyball. On Iowa!!

Iowa Men's Hoops takes on surging Ohio State tonight in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Todd Lickliter had his weekly press conference on Tuesday and previewed the Buckeyes, as well as stating that he hadn't decided if or when Anthony Tucker might see the court in a game this season. But Tucker is back practicing with the Hawkeyes as of Monday. More Football recruiting news, Wrestling, and Men's Tennis as well. Go Hawks!!
